Opis:
A film comprised of three interconnected vignettes that depict women at three stages of life in Iran. The first part centers on a young girl on her ninth birthday who is told that she can no longer play with the boys she had been playing with only the day before because she is now a woman. Told from the perspective of a 9-year-old girl who does not feel like or know what the word "woman" refers to, we see how devastatingly this affects both the girl and the boy with whom she had been friends. The second part is about a young woman who decides to enter a bicycle race against her husband's wishes. As first, the husband and then increasing numbers of men from her village ride beside her on horseback to convince her to return home. The race begins to symbolize a freedom that she desperately wants from the limitations that have been placed on her. Radnja filma:
Film se sastoji od tri međusobno povezane vinjete koje prikazuju
žene u tri faze života u Iranu. Prvi deo se fokusira na mladu devojčicu na njen
deveti rođendan, kada joj je rečeno da više ne može da se igra sa dečakom
s kojim se igrala samo dan pre jer je sada žena. Viđeno iz perspektive 9-godišnje
devojčice koja se ne oseća i ne zna na šta se reč "žena" odnosi, vidimo kako
poražavajuće to utiče i na devojčicu i na dečaka sa kojim je bila prijatelj.
Drugi deo je o mladoj ženi koja odlučuje da uđe u biciklističku trku protiv
želje njenog supruga. U početku muž a onda i sve veći broj ljudi iz njenog
sela jašu pored nje na konjima da je ubede da se vrati kući. Trka počinje
da simbolizuje slobodu koju ona očajnički želi od ograničenja koja su joj
nametnuta. Konačno, treći deo nam pokazuje staricu koji je došla do
nekog novca i može da radi s njim šta hoće. Način na koji odluči da koristi
ovu slobodu, međutim, tera nas da posumnjamo u njenu stvarnu slobodu.
