Opis:
Američki crno-bijeli igrani film snimljen 1962. u režiji Otta Premingera. Po žanru je drama, a predstavlja adaptaciju popularnog istoimenog romana Allena Druryja, koji je, pak, bio inspiriran stvarnim događajima vezanim uz vrh američke politike u prvim godinama Hladnog rata.
Radnja prikazuje kako američki predsjednik nastoji za novog državnog sekretara postaviti Roberta A. Leffingwella (čiji lik tumači Fonda), intelektualca koji zbog pomirljivih stavovima prema Sovjetima uživa podršku liberalne javnosti, ali potvrdu čijeg imenovanja nastoji spriječiti konzervativni južnjački senator Cooley (čiji lik tumači Charles Laughton), pri čemu obje strane počnu sve manje birati sredstva, uključujući otkrivanje "prljavog rublja" iz prošlosti kandidata i senatora.
