Opis:

Murders in the Rue Morgue je kratka priča čuvenog Edgara Allana Poea koja je prvi put filmovana u vidu jednog kratkog nemog filma koji datira iz 1914. ili 1917 godine (podaci se razlikuju). Dugometražna verzija iz 1932. godine je druga adaptacija poznate priče a tokom godina i decenija koje slede uslediće još nekoliko adaptacija u raznim oblicima.

Radnja filma se dešava 1845. godine u Parizu kada ludi naučnik putujući sa karnevalskom trupom otima mlade žene i na njima vrši monstruozne eksperimente. On u ženska tela ubrizgava majmunsku krv pokušavajući da napravi nekakvog mešanca majmuna i čoveka, novi evolutivni proizvod i prijatelja za svog majmuna koji je centralna ličnost jedne tačke u cirkusu. Predstava sa majmunom služi samo da bi se ludi naučnik nameračio na neku zgodnu mladu ženu, a kada se spusti mrak i magla on upada u njihove odaje ili ih naprosto zaskoči usred gradske tmine. Kako eksperiment nikada ne rezultira zadovoljavajućim ukrštanjem mrtva tela žena bivaju pronađena već sutradan u reci, a istovetne povrede na telima pokojnica pokreću policijsku istragu.
