Opis:

Anthony Gethryn, nedavno umirovljeni agent britanske tajne službe MI5, koga prijatelj po imenu Adrian Messenger moli da provjeri listu sa imenima osoba, od kojih su mnoga nedavno stradala u sumnjivim okolnostima. Gethryn, nakon što i sam Messenger strada, kreće u istragu uvjeren da mora zaustaviti ubicu.

Film je adaptacija istoimenog romana Philipa MacDonalda i poznat je po tome što je okupio jednu od najimpresivnijih glumačkih ekipa tadašnjeg Hollywooda, odnosno što se u postavi nalaze velike zvijezde kao Tony Curtis, Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster, Frank Sinatra i Robert Mitchum, a koje su nastupale pod debelim naslagama šminke koje su ih učinili potpuno neprepoznatljivim, a koje skidaju tek prilikom odjavne špice.

U stvarnosti je "njihove" uloge većim dijelom tumačio karakterni glumac Jan Merlin, koji je to iskustvo kasnije iskoristio kao inspiraciju za roman 'Shooting Montezuma'.
