Opis:


The movie is about Chicago White Sox pitcher Monty Stratton (Jimmy Stewart), who in the 1930s, compiled a 37-19 won-loss record in three seasons. After he became the winningest right-hander in the American League, his major league career ended prematurely when a hunting accident in 1938 forced doctors to amputate his right leg. With a wooden leg and his wife Ethel's (June Allyson) help, Stratton made a successful minor league comeback in 1946, continuing to pitch in minor leagues throughout the rest of the 1940s and into the 1950s.

    'Priča o Strattonu' je premijerno prikazan u Radio City Music Hallu
    12. svibnja 1949. i odmah je postigao veliki uspjeh donijevši
    studiju MGM te godine četiri milijuna dolara.

    Monty Stratton (James Stewart) je bio uspješan bacač za tim
    Chicago White Sox u Ligi američkog profesionalnog bejzbola
    1930' tih. Dok trenira u Californiji, na sastanku na slijepo, upoznaje
    svoju buduću suprugu Ethel (June Allyson) te se ubrzo i vjenčaju.
    Njegov sportski uspjeh je prekinut, kada 1938 g. zbog posljedica
    nesreće u lovu amputiraju njegovu desnu nogu.
    Nakon duge rehabilitacije, ponovo se počne baviti sportom
    da bi se 1946 g. uspješno vratio u profesionalnu ligu.

     

     

    Stewart je započeo snimati film 'Priča o Strattonu', svoj prvi komercijalni uspjeh
    nakon povratka iz rata. Partnerica mu je bila June Allyson, u to doba zaručnica
    glumca Dicka Powella. Partnerstvo Stewarta i Allysonove u tom filmu smatra se
    jednim od najuspješnijih "filmskih" brakova jer je bilo poprilično ispunjeno iskrenim
    emotivnim nabojem, njih su dvoje, naime, godinu ranije imali prilično ozbiljnu vezu.
