Opis:


"Punishment Park" is a pseudo-documentary purporting to be a film crews's news coverage of the team of soldiers escorting a group of hippies, draft dodgers, and anti-establishment types across the desert in a type of capture the flag game. The soldiers vow not to interfere with the rebels' progress and merely shepherd them along to their destination. At that point, having obtained their goal, they will be released. The film crew's coverage is meant to insure that the military's intentions are honorable. As the representatives of the 60's counter-culture get nearer to passing this arbitrary test, the soldiers become increasingly hostile, attempting to force the hippies out of their pacifist behavior. A lot of this film appears improvised and in several scenes real tempers seem to flare as some of the "acting" got overaggressive. This is a interesting exercise in situational ethics.     Puno smo puta gledali raznorazne distopijske spektakle u kojima biznismeni i politièari otvaraju svojevrsne zoo vrtove za ljude. Ovaj se služi sliènim elementima, ali ih razvija na posve drugaèiji naèin – 'zoo vrt' je ovdje kamp za obuku amerièke policije i vojske, a zarobljenici su mladi studenti i aktivisti protiv vijetnamskog rata, kojima sude lokalni desnièari, redom stariji od 30 i s otprilike jednakim IQ-om.

    Redatelj Peter Watkins (snimio 'The Gladiators' još 1969., film o borbama na smrt koje prenosi televizija – još jedna pionirska vizija realityja s politièkom porukom, a potpisao je i 'The War Games', takoðer docudramu, o ruskom atomskom napadu na Britaniju) bio je Britanac koji je kopao po prljavom amerièkom vešu, zbog èega je u SAD-u bio pljuvan i zabranjivan od strane establišmenta. Danas mu filmu izlazi na etiketi 'Masters Of Cinema'.

    Osim toga, danas, kada je Bush u stvarnosti dijelom napravio ono što ovaj film 1970. predviða Nixonu – oživio zakon kojim (doduše federalna) vlada bez da odgovara ikome može hapsiti, zatvarati i maltretirati koga kod hoæe – 'The Punishment Park' djeluje proroèanski, koliko i zastarjelo.

    U svakom pogledu, ovo je zanimljiv cinema verite pamflet/lažni dokumentarac, glasni politièki proglas i još jedan šezdesetosmaški film koji zadržava velik dio svoje snage i u 2009.
